On the 10 day countdown to the Beijing Olympics (30 July), Amnesty International will be co-ordinating a global, online day of protest against Internet censorship in China. It’s about showing your solidarity for Chinese people who risk censure, arrest, torture and even imprisonment for peacefully speaking out online. The aim is to ‘occupy’ as many online spaces as possible to demonstrate solidarity with netizens in China and to call on major Internet companies to end their complicity in violating the freedom of expression and information of Chinese citizens.

Why don’t you join in?
It only takes a couple of minutes and the more people that join the stronger the message it sends to the Chinese Government.
